Assistive technology can provide both routine and customized access to the general curriculum for students with special needs. Assistive technology devices and services can also increase independence and promote greater participation in a student’s academic and social activities.
Available services from the Region 17 ESC Assistive Technology Program:
Consulting assistance in helping local school districts match assistive technology to specific needs of students with disabilities
Training in the use of assistive technology for school personnel who work with students with disabilities, ages birth – 21 years
Loan of assistive technology to local schools for consideration/assessment purposes in order to determine student’s educational need
Training and information for parents, through and with the school districts, in the consideration, acquisition and use of assistive technology.
Interagency coordination and transition services for students needing assistive technology.
