Required Information for Parents at ARD Meetings

 

 

 

Available Services for Students with Visual Impairments:

  

  • Provide consultative services, technical assistance, and, teacher and paraprofessional training.
  • Provide assistance with Quality Programming for Teachers of Students with Visual Impairments for program evaluation and design.
  • Purchase educationally necessary low-vision aids, instructional materials, assistive technology, adaptive software or hardware for students with visual impairments in local schools.
  • Provide equipment and training staff to produce Braille and large print materials.
  • Assist with Annual Registration of Visually Impaired Students and with Deaf-blind Census.
  • Provide information and resources for students, families, and school personnel who are working with students who are blind or visually impaired.
  • Provide orientation and mobility skills evaluations and instruction available for eligible students from birth to age 21.
  • Provide low vision evaluations recommended by student's functional vision evaluations and by the annual IEP meeting committees.
  • Coordinate with general education and with agencies that provide services to students who are blind or have low vision.
  • Assist with full and individual evaluations for students with visual impairments and blindness, IEP development, and annual meetings.
  • Assist with other agencies in parent training.
  • Assist with resources to locate taped textbooks and literature.
  • Assist with teacher recruitment training, and mentoring teachers and O & M specialists.
